Catalin is similar to Amber bakelite (sikma kehribar) as it is also a new formaldehyde product. Catalin is a heat resistant substance. It has also been used in the production of household items, trinkets, cabinet and knife handles and also various other ornaments. When heated, they emit a phenolic odour.
